Hey Gill!

I dunno if you remember me, but we had a good spout of reviews going for each other's songs, and I just wanted to let you know that this song has a very special feeling to it, it's almost perfect. But, I have just the improvement that it needs! I think it would complete the song if you added this.

The melody at 0:58 - 1:06 is beautiful, but it needs to continue again at 1:36 when the drums come back again, and have that new instrument that you added at 1:07 play along with the main melody, it would create a perfect harmony!! This song has so much potential it's driving me crazy. Buy me a plane ticket so i can come work on it with you!! haha.

Good luck,
Sincerely,
Aaron.

Gillenium responds:

Haha many thanks. It's been forever since I've worked on any of my tunes. I think I might used my next free day to work on this one.. I'll try out your idea.

Very nice.

This song helps on a horrible day.

VegetarianMeat responds:

Glad I could help :)

The problem is: Not a lot of people understand this genre of music. So immediately it is criticized, Unfortunately. People, readers, you need to understand, this music is not to be perceived through the mind, it is to be perceived through the heart, and through the spirit (if you will). Now please, before you leave a critical review talking about this songs "lack of complexity" or saying "its boring" think of it this way: First of all, it's not a finished song, its experimental; Second, think about its potential and possibility to take you to places you could have never imagined, and finally, try listening with your heart, not your head, and when you figure out how to do that, trust me, you will know.
It will be like no other experience you have ever had in your life.

Great work once again Jeremy, finish this song, it will be wonderful.

VegetarianMeat responds:

Thanks man :)

XD lulz

This is a really cool song haha, its so different. I was smiling the whole time, keep up your creativity haha :D.

oh ya, 5'd. :3

Michael425 responds:

haha thanks man. I'll keep em coming.

...

To fatkid: You're an absolute idiot. Educate yourself on musical composure before you ever make a review like that again. All i can say is that, when you leave a review like that for someone, there will be a review much nastier waiting for you around the corner. KARMA'S A BITCH.

Anyways, i quite loved this song, very nice blending of the pads, and you played them PERFECTLY, contrary to what idiot-boy down there said. Good work, 5/5 10/10.

Well.

Garageband loops ftw! XD lol
Well, i gave you an 8 because most of the sounds were pre-made loops, but it was assembled very well and i really liked it. So good effort, great outcome, keep pumpin out the musik!

beast9368 responds:

yea, i need to get a new program

thanks for the review

Exquisite.

First, I am going to start off my review with a very bold statement:
"This is the apex of humanity's musical achievement."
I would not say that for any other song but this, because this song just struck the note, if you catch my drift :P.

And here we go...
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

(0:00 - 0:14) - The intro gives the listener a nice floating peaceful feeling. I like the enveloping and effects used on that beginning synth. The high hat corresponds nicely and everything so far gives a great overall feel.

(0:15 - 0:27) - I love the bass that you added. I like the extra feeling it adds of almost an anticipation for the build up, and main theme of the song. Nice filtering and EQ on everything so far, I don't see any technical or melodic issues with the song, its perfect.

(0:28 - 0:36) - I think during this transition phase you should have left a little bit of a pad, or the intro synth in there, so the overall feeling doesn't stop so abruptly. But, on that same note, the hard trance beat does make up for it a bit adding an anxious feeling.

(0:36 - 1:23) - This made up for the issue with the transition phase. The intro synth was re-introduced which is what i was hoping it would do, and the song kept that heavy beat. I also like the filtering/eveloping you used at 0:50 it sounds really good during that transition. The bass melody that was added is exceptional, everything so far has been structured perfectly to keep the song having a consistent feel, which is what the listener usually wants when they listen to a song, so great work there.

(1:24 - 2:46) - Ok this is something about this song that i have loved ever since you sent me that preview when it was at 40% completion: I love the elements of the melody during this part! I also love how at the end of each segment of the melody an incredible harmony arrives which gives you a great upbeat feeling. This section of the song leaves your mind to complete the rest of the melody, and it keeps the ambient floating feeling. Then without disappointment to the listener, the continuation of the melody comes in just in time so that the song doesn't become repetitive. Also something i haven't mentioned yet, i love all the ambient sounds, and the ambient pad in the background, simple yet effective. Then when combined it shows the true "simple complexity" of this song :P.

(2:47 - 3:41) - I love the calming pads, and the ambient feel.. All is quiet, then the pads become louder and louder, and builds up into the amazing melody. I like how the entire melody plays out twice then fades out with a nice filter.

(3:42 - 4:09) - Now the sub-melody begins. There is a technical issue here that i noticed, with the filter you used on this track, for the first repetition, it is off-key just slightly which kind of subtracts from the feeling of the song. But, after the first repetition, the key is righted and the feeling is renewed so it sort of corrects itself. I love the classic build-up of the drums and the harmony to the sub-melody all building up into the main chorus of the song.

(4:10 - 5:04) - The main section of this song is just perfect. All the elements of the tune have come together to create the most amazing achievement of this song. Everything has harmonized perfectly, and it really shows the listener how much effort was put into this song. Great job Karco.

(5:05 - 5:33) - Here the tune begins to calm down and heads back into the classic theme of this song. But, it doesn't lose its hard beat and progressive feel.

(5:34 - 5:59) - I like this build-up you used here, the pads are very soothing and it makes you naturally anticipate a change in the song.

(6:00 - 6:28) - This is my absolute favorite part of this whole entire song that made me feel head over heels in love with this song. Perfectly engineered beat, with a dub-step/tech-step feel and you even kept consistent with the melody and still the song and the same upbeat overall feeling! Cleverly crafted, beautifully carved... Karco my friend, you are a musical genious. This is by far the climax of the song.

To be continued

Karco responds:

You know, the sad thing about always giving out long reviews is that you can't give yourself any. Looks like you've solved that problem. :O

In any case, I'll have some scrolling to do for a while... D: I'll lighten my load and respond to only the things I feel should be responded to. I couldn't respond to everything in time to get my lunch. XD

0:28 - I just had this section so I could show off my kick some. XD That, and the lowpassed bass worked really well in my opinion. The held-back feeling might have been ruined by a pad. :\

3:42 - It definitely IS off-key... I could have manually automated the pitch to compensate but it would have been a ridiculous amount of effort. I can't really think of much else, except for perhaps changing the filter or the filter envelope a bit somehow?

6:00 - I wasn't going for dub-step or tech-step, just breakbeats for a change. XD Sounds like you really like it, though... good to hear! :D

And I'll respond to your other review, too! ;D

Fantastic.

Ok well, I really enjoyed the song first of all.
and when i really enjoy a song, i feel that it deserves a long, in depth, timelapsed review, besides i like giving long reviews anyway.

so, here we go...
-------------------------------------
--
- (0:00 - 0:27): I really enjoyed the elements in the intro. You brought in elements of sounds, and melody, kind of leaving it up to your mind to complete the progression for you. Which is great because it gives you just enough of a feeling to enjoy the song and it also creates a pleasant atmosphere. Also I really like the raindrop type sounds, it gives you sort of a cave like feeling. Great, great work, incredibly sophisticated and put together very well.

- (0:28 - 0:41): Nice touch, you added a slight change in the beat making the song not to repetitive. Also one issue I noticed which kind of changes the mood a little bit, is with the raindrop sounds... They seem to go out of pitch every now and then, but you really wouldn't notice unless you were paying attention or had an ear for it. It's not that it is a major issue but I thought that I would point it out.

- (0:42 - 0:51): I like how the beat stopped and a nice soothing pad was added to keep the mood consistent. I don't know if you did that purposely but, it was still very well done. Now you can hear a basic bass melody coming into play, great build-up.

- (0:52 - 1:08): Now the build-up really kicks in. The melody that you were hinting at towards the beginning of the song is now being exploited. Perfect, i was hoping you would bring that back. I also just noticed a chorus in the background that I hadn't notice before, once again keeping the consistency of the song.

- (1:09 - 1:21): Now the main melody for the song is being brought to attention. I really like the progression and the fade in.

- (1:22 - 1:49): Great! This is perfect. That is exactly how I imagined the drums should sound. They are assembled extremely well, and have just the right amount of variation. They also correlate very nicely with the melody and the bass. It is amazing the feeling you get from the part. I also like how the pitch changed with the slight variation in the melody, and you still kept the correlation between the drums and the melody. Excellent.

- (1:50 - 1:58): The break is nice, though I thought it came a little to early. I woild have liked the previous segment of the song to have continued a few counts longer, but the break is still placed alright, not a problem. The chorus is more evident now and has a different progression. The variation in this song is very nice, usually that is where most artists make their mistakes, there is not enough change in the song and it just becomes overly repetitive.

- (1:59 - 2:25): Another build-up, and change in melody. I like how it faded in nice and slow, and another new pad was used to emphasize the melody and draw your attention to it. Good beat, different from before, a little more classic but thats ok, as long as it doesn't become to repetitive.

- (2:26 - 2:30): The classic build-up XD. Nice touch, brings back old memories. Though it is the classic build-up, it is still effective in this song. Good job.

- (2:31 - 2:57): I like how you singled out the main melody. There were still elements of a harmony in the background with a sub-melody hinting their return, but I really like this part. Another classic trance build-up. I'm assuming that the song is going to return to the main theme?

- (2:58 - 3:39) Well, it did go back the the main theme in a way, but it still had some variation which is what I love about this song. Good beat still, I'm loving the filters you used, great effect. All the themes of the song are brought together during this part, melody, harmony, etc.. And it gives you a very uplifting feeling.

- (3:40 - FIN.) Great use of piano. It gives the listener a very emotional feeling. Especially since the piano is combined with a heart-felt chorus. Perfect fade out, well timed.

Overall: Exceptional song, 10/10, 5/5.
I'd like to hear more from you sir.

Sincerely, and with respect,
- Aaron

Mrmilkcarton responds:

Amazing review. I love users who add length and meaning to their review. Made my day by doing this. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you once again for the long review.

Orgasm, of the ears.

I loved this one, :P im going to leave my signature in depth review for this song because i enjoyed it so much. :D

Here i goes...
-------------------------------------

- The intro is fricken amazing, though i would say tone down the volume of the drum transition. Overdrives a bit.
- From 0:06 - 0:27 i really like the bass, nice steady drum beat too. The voice also adds a nice touch, it adds just enough variety to where the song isn't repetitive.
- im fucking in love with the melody that comes in from 0:27 - 0:38, though still not to fond of that transition, its too loud :P.
- Overall great sound so far..
- I think that you should have some more variety with the transitions you use, but i still like the sound.
- I love the new melody that comes in at 1:16 :D i'm dancing in my seat haha.
- I also like the sub-melody or bass? that comes in at 1:36, really good effect.
- at 1:55 - 2:20 omg orgasm, i love the arpeggio, perfect melody transition, i think that makes up for the overdriving drum transition.
- Good, i like how it went back into the original melody, at 2:21, with a slight variation at the beginning. Awesome overall sound.
- Ok i also like how the melody faded out, i'm guess its going to come to a close?
- Yes i love it, perfect! that bass = <3.
- I also just realised the voice is saying "Bass"... haha
- Anyways, good fade out into the end, though i think it should have taken just like 5 more seconds for a slower fade out.
-------------------------------------
-------
But! Great work, major loves@this song, To my favorites it goes, just because of that sexy ass melody and bass haha.

- Aaron.

Moltov responds:

wow, thanks... great review helps me out alot. yeah people dont like me songs for some reason >.< i dont know why.
Thanks alot,

Hey.

Great song, I love the bass work. The drums are incredible, close to the pros, actually it reminds me of Spor's music in a way. Maybe more of Noisia... or maybe Apex. Dunno lol, you have a mixture of styles, and its created your own style.

Great work.

Imma do a review as the song progresses from the beginning...
here i go..
-------------------------------------
-------------

- Love the intro, The bass progression is amazing.
- I'm liking how each time the higher bass frequency comes in you add a little bit more the the melody.
- This song has an Arabian desert kind of feel, but i can see being trapped inside a pyramid.
- At 0:21 You had a very nice drop into the beat, sounded perfect.
- At 1:04, When the drums stopped and the violin came in, it really added a nice touch. It made me think of the guy in the pyramid coming to a kind of "cross roads" as you might call it, and he stops to try and decide which way to go.
- Great bass distortion by the way.
- Another good drop into the beat at 1:25.
- Nice bass diversity also. Diversity in DnB songs is something that a lot of them lack, and you added a nice touch, it doesn't sound to repetitive or anything.
- At 2:08, I would have advised maybe putting a transition so the beat doesn't sound like it just suddenly stops.
- I like how the song fades out from 2:08 - 2:29. Though I think you should make it longer, I was really getting into it XD.
- So, the only advise i could give you would be that if you do decide to extend the song, make some more variations in the beat, maybe a long transition where the whole song just gets switched up, then goes into a whole new verse, and on back into the original verse. Then comes the conclusion, which i think you should draw out longer.

Anyways, just some constructive critisizm :P.
Great tune.

P.S: I was curious, I use Fl Studio 7, and maybe if you would be so kind as to send me an example of how you've assembled the beat? I would really appreciate it. I've always been curious how to create a DnB beat, i can always write great melodies and bass, i just cant figure out how to make the drums sound DnB like.

thx bro. Great song once again.
- Aaron

raretools responds:

Thx for a very extensive review. when i hear the "crossroadspoint" i imagine the hero jumping over a pit or something in slowmotion and arrows shoting out at him from the wall.
If you want tips for making a good dnb beat i would recomend slicing out a beat from an allready existing song, slow it down ALOT, listen to how it sounds and try to make a simillar beat in your music making program. Listen to every kick, every snare and so on. When you have grasped the concept you make your own beat variations :) thats how i learnt it anyways.

hope i helped you out bro ;)
