Fantastic.

Ok well, I really enjoyed the song first of all.
and when i really enjoy a song, i feel that it deserves a long, in depth, timelapsed review, besides i like giving long reviews anyway.

so, here we go...
-------------------------------------
--
- (0:00 - 0:27): I really enjoyed the elements in the intro. You brought in elements of sounds, and melody, kind of leaving it up to your mind to complete the progression for you. Which is great because it gives you just enough of a feeling to enjoy the song and it also creates a pleasant atmosphere. Also I really like the raindrop type sounds, it gives you sort of a cave like feeling. Great, great work, incredibly sophisticated and put together very well.

- (0:28 - 0:41): Nice touch, you added a slight change in the beat making the song not to repetitive. Also one issue I noticed which kind of changes the mood a little bit, is with the raindrop sounds... They seem to go out of pitch every now and then, but you really wouldn't notice unless you were paying attention or had an ear for it. It's not that it is a major issue but I thought that I would point it out.

- (0:42 - 0:51): I like how the beat stopped and a nice soothing pad was added to keep the mood consistent. I don't know if you did that purposely but, it was still very well done. Now you can hear a basic bass melody coming into play, great build-up.

- (0:52 - 1:08): Now the build-up really kicks in. The melody that you were hinting at towards the beginning of the song is now being exploited. Perfect, i was hoping you would bring that back. I also just noticed a chorus in the background that I hadn't notice before, once again keeping the consistency of the song.

- (1:09 - 1:21): Now the main melody for the song is being brought to attention. I really like the progression and the fade in.

- (1:22 - 1:49): Great! This is perfect. That is exactly how I imagined the drums should sound. They are assembled extremely well, and have just the right amount of variation. They also correlate very nicely with the melody and the bass. It is amazing the feeling you get from the part. I also like how the pitch changed with the slight variation in the melody, and you still kept the correlation between the drums and the melody. Excellent.

- (1:50 - 1:58): The break is nice, though I thought it came a little to early. I woild have liked the previous segment of the song to have continued a few counts longer, but the break is still placed alright, not a problem. The chorus is more evident now and has a different progression. The variation in this song is very nice, usually that is where most artists make their mistakes, there is not enough change in the song and it just becomes overly repetitive.

- (1:59 - 2:25): Another build-up, and change in melody. I like how it faded in nice and slow, and another new pad was used to emphasize the melody and draw your attention to it. Good beat, different from before, a little more classic but thats ok, as long as it doesn't become to repetitive.

- (2:26 - 2:30): The classic build-up XD. Nice touch, brings back old memories. Though it is the classic build-up, it is still effective in this song. Good job.

- (2:31 - 2:57): I like how you singled out the main melody. There were still elements of a harmony in the background with a sub-melody hinting their return, but I really like this part. Another classic trance build-up. I'm assuming that the song is going to return to the main theme?

- (2:58 - 3:39) Well, it did go back the the main theme in a way, but it still had some variation which is what I love about this song. Good beat still, I'm loving the filters you used, great effect. All the themes of the song are brought together during this part, melody, harmony, etc.. And it gives you a very uplifting feeling.

- (3:40 - FIN.) Great use of piano. It gives the listener a very emotional feeling. Especially since the piano is combined with a heart-felt chorus. Perfect fade out, well timed.

Overall: Exceptional song, 10/10, 5/5.
I'd like to hear more from you sir.

Sincerely, and with respect,
- Aaron

Amazing review. I love users who add length and meaning to their review. Made my day by doing this. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you once again for the long review.

Orgasm, of the ears.

I loved this one, :P im going to leave my signature in depth review for this song because i enjoyed it so much. :D

Here i goes...
-------------------------------------

- The intro is fricken amazing, though i would say tone down the volume of the drum transition. Overdrives a bit.
- From 0:06 - 0:27 i really like the bass, nice steady drum beat too. The voice also adds a nice touch, it adds just enough variety to where the song isn't repetitive.
- im fucking in love with the melody that comes in from 0:27 - 0:38, though still not to fond of that transition, its too loud :P.
- Overall great sound so far..
- I think that you should have some more variety with the transitions you use, but i still like the sound.
- I love the new melody that comes in at 1:16 :D i'm dancing in my seat haha.
- I also like the sub-melody or bass? that comes in at 1:36, really good effect.
- at 1:55 - 2:20 omg orgasm, i love the arpeggio, perfect melody transition, i think that makes up for the overdriving drum transition.
- Good, i like how it went back into the original melody, at 2:21, with a slight variation at the beginning. Awesome overall sound.
- Ok i also like how the melody faded out, i'm guess its going to come to a close?
- Yes i love it, perfect! that bass = <3.
- I also just realised the voice is saying "Bass"... haha
- Anyways, good fade out into the end, though i think it should have taken just like 5 more seconds for a slower fade out.
-------------------------------------
-------
But! Great work, major loves@this song, To my favorites it goes, just because of that sexy ass melody and bass haha.

- Aaron.

Moltov responds:

wow, thanks... great review helps me out alot. yeah people dont like me songs for some reason >.< i dont know why.
Thanks alot,
-Moltov

Hey.

Great song, I love the bass work. The drums are incredible, close to the pros, actually it reminds me of Spor's music in a way. Maybe more of Noisia... or maybe Apex. Dunno lol, you have a mixture of styles, and its created your own style.

Great work.

Imma do a review as the song progresses from the beginning...
here i go..
-------------------------------------
-------------

- Love the intro, The bass progression is amazing.
- I'm liking how each time the higher bass frequency comes in you add a little bit more the the melody.
- This song has an Arabian desert kind of feel, but i can see being trapped inside a pyramid.
- At 0:21 You had a very nice drop into the beat, sounded perfect.
- At 1:04, When the drums stopped and the violin came in, it really added a nice touch. It made me think of the guy in the pyramid coming to a kind of "cross roads" as you might call it, and he stops to try and decide which way to go.
- Great bass distortion by the way.
- Another good drop into the beat at 1:25.
- Nice bass diversity also. Diversity in DnB songs is something that a lot of them lack, and you added a nice touch, it doesn't sound to repetitive or anything.
- At 2:08, I would have advised maybe putting a transition so the beat doesn't sound like it just suddenly stops.
- I like how the song fades out from 2:08 - 2:29. Though I think you should make it longer, I was really getting into it XD.
- So, the only advise i could give you would be that if you do decide to extend the song, make some more variations in the beat, maybe a long transition where the whole song just gets switched up, then goes into a whole new verse, and on back into the original verse. Then comes the conclusion, which i think you should draw out longer.

Anyways, just some constructive critisizm :P.
Great tune.

P.S: I was curious, I use Fl Studio 7, and maybe if you would be so kind as to send me an example of how you've assembled the beat? I would really appreciate it. I've always been curious how to create a DnB beat, i can always write great melodies and bass, i just cant figure out how to make the drums sound DnB like.

thx bro. Great song once again.

raretools responds:

Thx for a very extensive review. when i hear the "crossroadspoint" i imagine the hero jumping over a pit or something in slowmotion and arrows shoting out at him from the wall.
If you want tips for making a good dnb beat i would recomend slicing out a beat from an allready existing song, slow it down ALOT, listen to how it sounds and try to make a simillar beat in your music making program. Listen to every kick, every snare and so on. When you have grasped the concept you make your own beat variations :) thats how i learnt it anyways.

hope i helped you out bro ;)

oh nice

I see you use Sonar :D i know a few people who use it, its pretty cool.
Anyway, i've listened to few of your rock / metal songs, and you are very talented, i was in the mood to listen to a video game song by you cause it seemed like i would be a change.. I usually leave really long in depth reviews, but i have to go to bed, so tomorrow i am going to review a couple of your songs in depth when i have the time, because i would feel mean if i just came by did a lame little review then didn't give you a good one XD.

Anyway, good work, i apologize for not giving you a good review today, but be ready for some kick ass reviews tomorrow!!

CyriltheWolf responds:

Thanks. Gald you liked!

:D yay

Well since i just tried to make a trance song, and this beat the hell out of it, i wanted to review this one from start to finish as i listen..
-------------------------------------
----
- Liking the intro, very bubbly, intense.
- The way the drums came in was very creative, great job.
- The lead synth that comes in with the drums is nice, i like how you're not really expecting the next note as it progresses, or maybe thats just me XD.
- Oooh, great build up into the main melody (0:52 - 1:15), i like how the tempo sped up, very very interesting. Now the song has my full attention.
- Really liking the bass, stands out at 1:38 - 2:04, nice build up.. i like how it goes into a quiet relaxing melody.
- Great piano and use of Sytrus! loving the warming pad going along with the piano.
- 2:51 and on, is that a horn of some sort? i like the pad that goes with it also. :D great work there.
- love the build up from 3:23 - 3:27 when it dropped off, i wasn't looking at the time and i was like nooooooo its over, but then the main sequence came in, I love it.
- From 3:40 where the melody comes in to 4:19 the song got kind of distorted, may have been from the compiling, but i have a suspicion it was the combination of some FX with the bass that did it.
- The ending was kind of strange, but i still enjoyed it, Good job!!
- This tune reminded me of an adventure at sea throughout the whole thing, nice imagery, i like your creativity.

dittyboppoo responds:

Thanks so much! I love reviews like these! =D

Very nice work.

Well, I enjoyed this very much. Pretty good for played by ear, there were only a few things that you messed up on that i could hear. In the first melody sequence (first loop) at about the end of the three second mark you missed 1 note it was a key lower than it should have been (not that it really matters that much, just thought you would like to know.) Also at the end of the first loop you had (before it moves into the next) you're melody went 'low-lower-low-high' and in the actual song it goes 'low-lower-high-low' but the way you made it actually sounded really cool =D.

now im not trying to be critical, its just one of my favorite songs and i thought u might want to know XD, i have the song file, i can send it to you when i get home. (im at my dads atm)

great work!

- Aaron

TheReno responds:

Well thanks. Like how I made this is I listened to the song like five times then played a game of guess the note xD But yeah I appreciate it. This took forever to make just because of how I did it. Everybody I talked to (not on here) told me to use a piano sheet or something, but I had to take the hard way out xD

I have a question.

are you trying to kill me with ambient goodness??
this is better than my moms homemade pies.

haha, well i was going to leave a more in depth review on this song like the others but it has left me speachless.

You are the best artist on newgrounds.
no doubt.

Gillenium responds:

Haha, I'm glad you survived the song to write this review! There's not much to say in response to this review (other than THANKS!) so I'll just give you a factoid about the song. For all of my songs, I give them a stupid title so I'll be able to recognize the song file. This one was codenamed "Delay" because in the beginning, every sound is run through a different delay filter. I came up with "November Butterfly" when I saw a butterfly flying over the highway near my college in late October. This song is about that butterfly fighting it out through November. The song is still titled "Delay" on my computer.. I'm so disorganized..

I also wanted to review this piece..

Another amazing incredible piece, you guys make a good team.
im going to review as i listen.
-------------------------------------
-----
- The intro is very soothing, light, quiet. I feel like im in a dream.
- The low frequencey bass sound at 0:18 comes in at the perfect time.
- I like the abstract sounds, like a machine. Hence the name i guess :P
- At 1:10, the song really gets going, loving the bass, incredible.
- High viola or violin? at 1:27 sounds perfect, harmonizes with the bass perfectly.
- man im loving this, i feel like im on the ocean coast staring up into the stary sky.
- some dark sounds added at 2:27 and 3:03, gives a great feel to the song.
- abstract pads are nice, very good work.
- the song combines dark and light sounds very well, they harmonize with such ease, amazing.
- I still can't get over that bass, haha its great, it keeps the groove of the song.
- Wow, great ending, from 6:04 - 7:06, the song slowly came to a conclusion, it eased into the ending, it didn't feel rushed at all.

wow, this piece overwhelmed my senses, INCREDIBLE job.

Gillenium responds:

Wow, great review! I like reviews that go into specifics and follow the song piece by piece. Yeah, basically Bamsukka (Kevin Johnson) sent me some song pieces that he thought were cool. I sculpted a song around them like I always do with collabs, but then I decided to do something a little bit different... I completed the song without his guitarwork and then gave it to him to do with as he pleased. He added the bass, the guitar and some fx and sent it back to me. It was so good, I didn't even need to edit anything. I just rendered both parts together and submitted! It was a much different song before he got ahold of it. It couldn't have turned out any better, I think.

You brought up that it didn't sound rushed... believe me, it wasn't! There's no need to rush this type of ambient music. For a lot of my songs, there always seems to be difficulty in deciding where to end, but not with this one for some reason. I just let it flow and I phased parts of the song in and out and... the ending felt right! I love it when that happens..

Thanks for the review!

Well Gillenium...

I've listened to all of your music, i have most of it in itunes, it is perfect.
you are my inspiration to continue writing ambient pieces.

This song:

wow.

this is a wonderful piece, it progesses perfectly, there is no aspect of it that i don't appreciate. The only way i can describe this song is that it is the equivalent to heaven for me. all peaceful flowing ambient peaces really take me far away, this is amazing.

great great work..

I've been making music for quite a while, but i just got Fl Studio 7, and im only posting my music that i've made so far with FL on this account, but i've released a preview of my new classical/ambient track, and i would really be honored if u could stop by and leave me some constructive critisizm, i need it. haha

the song is called.. DjUntold - A Journey [WIP]

once again, great work on the song, hope to hear from you soon.

- Aaron

Gillenium responds:

Thanks again! I'm glad you connected to this song, because my main goal with this song was to express how AMAZING I felt after a Chemical Brothers concert at McCarren Park Pool in Brooklyn. It was the single greatest musical experience of my life and I knew I had to try to recreate my feeling afterwards. I think I came pretty darn close, too. I wanted to make this in the hotel room after the concert, but I was too damn tired... so I made it a couple days later so I'd still have that feeling of nirvana. There's plenty of videos on youtube of the concert if you want to see the context of the tune.

Let's see, some song facts: The female voice sample was my girlfriend. She provides me with great vocals every now and again. The male voice sample was from my voicemail. Some guy left me a message by mistake thinking I was Patricia... For some reason, his voice fit great on the track, so I thought "what the hell" and put it in, haha.

helloz
